Filtering Students

Studioware allows you to filter the students in the grid.  The filtering is useful if you want to target a sub-set of students and perform an action, such as sending an email, or adding a financial transaction.

There are many filter options available, including:
  1. Filter by student status, such as "Active" students
  2. Filter by student tags
  3. Filter all enrolled students
  4. Filter by class
  5. Financial filter.
Additionally, Studioware allows you to set a default student status filter.  Suppose for example, you only want to see Active students every time you click on the "Students" link in the main menu.  You can setup the default student status filtering by clicking on you name in the upper right corner, selecting "My Settings", and specifying the "Default Student Status Filter".

To get started applying a filter to the student grid, follow these instructions:

  1. Click on "Students" in the main menu
  2. Click on "Filters" from the toolbar.  The filter that is currently active will contain a check-mark next to the name.
  3. Select a filter you wish to apply
  4. Most filters have additional options that you can apply.  Select the appropriate additional options
  5. Click on the "Filter Students" button to apply the filter.
  6. In the footer of the student grid, Studioware will show you the total student count, and the number of students that match your filter:
  7. Click on the blue [X] to remove the filter (or select Filters from the drop down menu and "No Filters (All Students)":

The details of each Filter type are displayed below:

No Filters (All Students):

This filter type removes the current filter and displays all students in the grid.

Student Status Filter:
This option allows you to filter the students based on their student status.  For example, if you wish to only display "Active" students, select the "Active" status and click on "Filter Students"

Student Tag Filter

This option allows you to filter the students based on the tags assigned to students. This filter gives you 2 options:
  1. Filter the students that have all the selected tags
  2. Filter the students that have any of the selected tags.
For example, suppose you have a tag called "20% Discount" and you want to view all students that are assigned this tag.  In this scenario, you want to show all the students that have this tag, regardless of any other tags they may also have.  To accomplish this, you would un-check the setting "Only the students that have all the selected tags will be displayed", and select the "20% Discount" tag:
