Studioware 2.0: Creating and Scheduling Classes

In this email tutorial you will learn how to create a class in Studioware, set the class tuition, and schedule a class. There are 9 different tuition options available in Studioware.  This email tutorial will go through the most common tuition scenario: Fixed Tuition

Here is the class Scenario:

Suppose you have a class called "Introductory Class".  The class meets once a week for 8 weeks.  Your studio will offer this class on Monday evenings, Wednesday evenings, and Saturday mornings.  In this scenario, the singe class will be scheduled at 3 different times.  Studioware allows you to schedule the class at different locations, at different times, with different instructors.

This class is a "Group" class with one or more students enrolled in the class.  Studioware also offer's private classes, and drop-in classes (drop-in classes allow your students to enroll in certain dates, instead of the entire class; for example, specific dates for a yoga class).

Creating the Class:

To create a class, click on "Classes" in the main menu, and "Create Class".  Simply enter the class name, select "Group Instruction" for the class type, and enter in a brief description.  Additionally, place a check-mark in the "Online Enrollment?" setting (we will need this later when we review the Business Portal). Click on the "Save the Class, and Add Class Tuition Button":

Setting the Class Tuition:

Setting the class tuition involves 3 steps.  The first step allows you to set the name and description of the tuition. 

Tuition Amount

There are many different options available for the "Tuition Amount Type".  To get started quickly learning Studioware, select "A fixed amount of tuition is charged for the class".   You will notice there are 3 sub-options for fixed tuition.  In this scenario, we will charge the full tuition amount of $200 and set the due date to "Time of Enrollment": 

Tuition Qualification:

Next, you need to specify which students this tuition applies to.  Studioware allows you to create multiple tuition items for a class, and specify how they apply to different types of students based on their student tags.  Again, to get started learning all the features within Studioware, indicate that the $200 tuition applies to all students:

Click on the "Save the Tuition and Schedule the class" button to continue.

Scheduling the Class:

Scheduling a class is very easy.  Select the start and stop dates for the class, specify the class length and capacity, and select the instructors for the class:

Advanced Class, Tuition, and Scheduling Features:

• Studioware offers 9 different tuition options including fixed tuition, variable tuition (based on the hours/count of classes), custom tuition due dates, staff rate tuition, per-class tuition, and more.  Learn more about the available tuition options.
