Studioware 2.0 Advanced Tuition Options

Studioware offers many tuition options when creating a class.  This email tutorial will review 3 different tuition options:

1. Tuition charged for each individual class date
2. Customizing the tuition amounts and payment dates
3. Tuition based on the count or hours of classes

Tuition Charged for Each Individual Class Date:

With this tuition option, you specify the amount of tuition to be added to a student's financial account for each individual class date.  If a class meets once a week for 8 weeks (assuming you have no holidays scheduled in Administration | Holidays), there will be 8 separate tuition transactions added to the enrolling student financial accounts.  The date of the tuition transaction will be the date of the class (therefore, some of the tuition transaction will occur in the future). If a student is enrolling in a class that already started, and you elect to Pro-Rate the tuition for the enrolling student, there will be no tuition charges for class dates that have completed.   Tuition for individual class dates is especially usefully if your class type is Drop-In (where a student enrolls into individual class dates instead of the entire class)

Customizing the Tuition Amounts and Payment Dates:

Studioware allows you to customize the tuition amounts and due dates relative to the start date or end date of the class.  For example, suppose that 25% of the $200 tuition is due the date the class starts, another 25% is due 4 weeks after the class starts, and the remaining 50% is due 20 days before the class ends.  Studioware allows you to accomplish this by creating custom due dates and amounts.  When a student enrolls in a class with customized tuition, Studioware calculates all the dates and adds the "Tuition" transactions to the student's financial account:

Tuition Based on the Count or Hours of Classes:

This is a very common tuition scenario for many businesses.  The amount of monthly (or term) tuition depends on the number (or hours) of classes a student is enrolled in.  For example, if a student is only enrolled in 1 class, the tuition may be $50/month.  If a student is enrolled in 2 classes, the monthly tuition may be $90/month. Notice the Tuition Fee Schedules have a discount built-in:  The more classes a student takes, the cheaper the per class amount is.  We call this type of tuition "Variable Tuition".

Studioware can be configured to automatically calculate the Variable Tuition once a month, and add the tuition transactions to the student accounts:
